Miru Kim (* 1981) ist eine vielfach gewürdigte Künstlerin und Forschende aus New York. In ihrer ersten Fotoserie “Naked City Spleen” inszenierte sie sich in städtischen Ruinen wie aufgegebenen Tunnels, Fabriken, Hafenanlagen. In ihrer zweiten Serie “The Pig That Therefore I Am” besuchte sie industrielle Schweinefarmen und mischte sich nackt unter die Tiere. Ihr letztes Projekt “The Camel’s Way” entstand auf ihrer Reise zu den Wüsten rund um die Welt, wo sie mit Nomaden lebte und mit Kamelen wanderte. Die Essenz ihrer Arbeit liegt immer auf dem performativen Prozess. Am Body and Freedom Festival wird sie ein Performancestück zeigen mit dem Titel „Biel/Bienne dreaming”. Sie wird an beiden Festivaltagen an der Kreuzung Nidaugasse und Neuengasse je 6 Stunden schlafen.
Miru Kim (* 1981) de New York, est une artiste appréciée pour ses multiples talents et pour ses travaux de recherches. Dans sa première série photographique “Naked City Spleen”, elle s’est mise en scène dans les ruines de citées, tels que tunnels, fabriques ou installations portuaires. Dans sa deuxième série “The Pig That Therefore I Am” elle a visité des fermes de production porcine et s’est mêlée nue aux animaux. Son dernier projet “The Camel’s Way” est issu de son voyage dans les déserts tout autour du monde, où elle a vécu et voyagé avec les nomades et leurs chameaux. L’essence de son travail réside toujours dans le processus inhérent à la performance. Au Festival Body and Freedom on pourra voir une performance qui a pour titre „Biel/Bienne dreaming”. Au cours des 2 jours de Festival, elle dormira pendant 6 heures à la croisée de la Rue de Nidau et de la Rue Neuve.
Miru Kim is a New York-based artist and explorer. Her first photography series, “Naked City Spleen” takes place in urban ruins such as abandoned tunnels, factories, shipyards. For her second series, “The Pig That Therefore I Am,” she visited industrial hog farms and immersed herself amongst the pigs. Then “The Camel’s Way” follows her journey around the world, where she lived with desert nomads and walked with camels. The essence of her work always lies in the performative process. In the Body and Freedom Festival, she will show a performance piece titled „Biel/Bienne dreaming” for which she will sleep at the crossing of Nidaugasse and Neuengasse, for 6 hours at a time on both festival days.
