Sebastian Liljedahl (SE) – Body and Freedom Festival

Sebastian Liljedahl (*1962) lebt in Odensvi in Schweden. Er praktiziert seit 1985 Tai Chi. Nach 1989 beschäftigte er sich mit Improvisationstheater. Beeinflusst durch die Begegnung mit den Butoh-Tänzer Masaki Iwana und Moeno Wakamatsu begann er ab 2012 regelmässig auf Strassen, Bühnen und in Museen in verschiedenen europäischen Ländern aufzutreten. Er sagt, dass „49 ein gutes Alter war, um meine Tanzkarriere zu starten.“ In seinen Auftritten studiert er beispielsweise das Fallen auf einer Treppe („Broken Flower“) oder die Balance auf einem kleinen Stuhl („Luftpuppan“). „Pink poppy“, einer Performance in einem Trockenteich aus Beton, war bewegte Poesie in einer Landschaft von Materie, die die Zeit vergessen und die Unterschied zwischen männlich und weiblich verschwinden liess. Er kommt, sich von vorgefassten Empfindungen und Ausdrucksformen befreiend, meistens ohne Choreographie aus. Am Body and Freedom Festival möchte er seinen nackten Körper zu einem Teil der Umgebung mit ihren Formen und Geräuschen werden lassen, so wie sie eine Stadt produziert. Welche Szenerien trägt die Hautoberfläche, wenn sie nicht mit Kleidern bedeckt ist?

Influenced by butoh dancers Masaki Iwana and Moeno Wakamatsu, he started in 2012 to perform regularly in public in the street, in museums and on stage all over Europe. He says that „49 was a good age to start my dance career.“ In his appearances he made studies on falling down a stair (“Broken Flower“) or to be out of balance on a small chair (“Luftpuppan“). “Pink poppy “, performed in a dry pond of concrete, was a moving poem in a body landscape where time draws out and the distinction between man an woman ceased to exist. His way to dance is mostly based on no choreography, by emptying himself from sensations and expression. His dance at the Body and Freedom Festival is to let the naked body becoming a part of the surrounding, shapes, sounds that is created by a city. Where kind of scenes do the surface of the skin carry when you are not covering it with clothes?
